APC chieftain slams VeryDarkMan for ‘slandering’ Akpabio over Vatican trip

Blessing Agbomhere, the South South Zonal Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has cautioned the social media influencer, VeryDarkMan, against what he termed a slanderous verbal attack on Godswill Akpabio, the senate president.

Agbomhere’s warning follows a three-minute viral video where VeryDarkMan, born Martins Vincent Otse, criticised Akpabio for leading a five-man federal government delegation to Pope Francis’s funeral at the Vatican.

VeryDarkMan described the visit as shameful and suggested that the senate president should have instead visited states in the country affected by insecurity, such as Benue, Plateau, Kwara, Ogun, and Enugu.

In a statement on Monday, Agbomhere accused the influencer of engaging in “blackmail, slander, and character assassination” under the guise of activism.

He also issued a one-week ultimatum to VeryDarkMan to issue an unreserved apology to Akpabio.

This individual known as VeryDarkMan is now notorious for blackmail, slander and character assassination while pretending to be an advocate for the masses and social crusader, the statement reads.

The unwarranted verbal attack on the president of the senate is yet another of such aimless, baseless, and uninformed diatribes.

Agbomhere defended Akpabio’s trip, stating that the senate president was duly nominated by President Bola Tinubu to represent Nigeria at the funeral.

Being a devout Catholic and family man with unblemished character, President Tinubu saw in Akpabio a worthy ambassador of Nigeria to such an event as the Pope’s funeral, he said.

The APC chieftain urged Nigerians to disregard VeryDarkMan’s uninformed ranting and assured that the current administration is actively working to address the nation’s security challenges inherited from previous administrations.
