Controversial Nigerian street-hop artist, Habeeb Okikilola Badmus, widely known as Portable, has been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command following multiple allegations of defamation brought forward by veteran fuji musician Saheed Osupa.
Portable, who has gained notoriety for his frequent clashes with both the public and fellow entertainers, was taken into custody on Sunday, April 13, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The arrest stems from a petition filed by Saheed Osupa whose full name is Okunola Saheed accusing Portable of criminal defamation, threats to life, incitement, character assassination, and conduct likely to cause public unrest.
Confirming the development, the command’s spokesperson, SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, revealed that the police obtained a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, based on the gravity of the allegations and the evidence submitted.
“Considering the seriousness of the allegations and the supporting materials provided, the command secured a valid arrest warrant from a Magistrate Court sitting in Ilorin,” the police spokesperson stated.

Portable Transferred to Ilorin for Interrogation
Ejire-Adeyemi further explained that the arrest occurred around 7:25 p.m., after which Portable was immediately transported to Ilorin for questioning.
“Upon his arrival, the suspect’s statement was recorded in the presence of legal representatives from both parties,” she said.
The charges are reportedly linked to Portable’s alleged use of “abusive and offensive language” against Saheed Osupa on social media and other public platforms.
As of the time of this report, Portable remains in police custody. Authorities have confirmed that preparations are ongoing to formally charge him in court.
This latest incident adds to the string of legal troubles and public controversies that have trailed the outspoken musician, often drawing attention away from his music career.
