Sonia Adesua, the ex-wife of Nigerian footballer Odion Ighalo, has taken to Instagram to express her thoughts following the passing of her former sister-in-law, Omoye Ighalo.
In an emotional post, Sonia revisited a haunting moment from her past, recounting a chilling comment made by Omoye during her pregnancy. According to Sonia, Omoye had accused her of bearing a child for material gain and ominously hinted at complications during childbirth.
“My late wicked ex-husband’s sister-in-law said this to me: ‘Sonia, I go see as you go take born that pikin wey you get for belle come life. Shey you dey born because of my brother’s property. We shall see.’”
Sonia then revealed that she almost died during labour, highlighting the severity of the ordeal she endured.
Despite the past tension, she concluded her message with a note of forgiveness and prayer:
“May God have mercy on you and accept your soul, Omoye Ighalo.”

The post has stirred mixed reactions online, with many praising Sonia for her strength, while others expressed discomfort over airing such deeply personal matters publicly following a person’s death.
