Reality TV star and actress Bambam has shared her harrowing experience with childbirth complications, shedding light on the often-overlooked struggles of postpartum care.
Speaking on “Me and My Girls” on Fertitude, Bambam revealed that she suffered kidney failure, a weakened heart, and liver shutdown while giving birth to her daughter.
A Life-Threatening Delivery
The situation worsened when her daughter detached from the placenta, putting her at risk of oxygen deprivation. Thankfully, timely medical intervention saved both mother and child.
However, the traumatic experience left a lasting impact on Bambam, leading her to seek therapy to cope with the emotional aftermath.
Bambam Reflects on the Ordeal
“My kidney failed, my heart became weak, my liver—everything was just shutting down. She had detached from the placenta; if I was a second late, she would have lost oxygen, and I would have had a stillbirth.”
She added that the “what if” thoughts haunted her for a long time:
“What if the doctor wasn’t attentive? What if the nurse didn’t do her due diligence? It tormented me for a while. I had to get therapy to walk me through being grateful.”
A Message on Maternal Health
Bambam’s story has sparked conversations about the importance of proper maternal care, self-advocacy in hospitals, and mental health support for new mothers.
