Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has described his recent spell on the sidelines as a “horrible week” after missing crucial defeats to Real Madrid and Liverpool due to injury.
What Happened?
Haaland suffered a knee injury during City’s 4-0 win over Newcastle United on February 15, forcing him to miss their Champions League exit against Real Madrid (3-0) and a Premier League loss to Liverpool (2-0).
Haaland Speaks Out
Following his return in City’s 1-0 win over Tottenham, where he scored the decisive goal, Haaland told the BBC:
“I feel good – it’s good to be back. It’s been a horrible week. As a footballer, all you want to do is play, but sometimes you have to listen to your body.
Of course, it’s never nice to be injured and not play, but it’s about looking forward and staying positive. We can only do things about the present and future, and today was all about winning.”
What’s Next?
Haaland is expected to feature in Manchester City’s upcoming FA Cup clash against Plymouth Argyle on March 1.
