Inter Miami continued their impressive run in the Concacaf Champions Cup, securing a 3-1 victory (4-1 aggregate)over Sporting Kansas City at Chase Stadium. Goals from Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez, and Tadeo Allende sealed the win, setting up a Round of 16 clash with Jamaican side Cavalier FC next month.
Messi’s Magic Leads the Charge
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner wasted no time putting Miami in front. In the 19th minute, Messi controlled a pinpoint cross from Suárez with his chest before unleashing a signature left-footed rocket past goalkeeper John Pulskamp.
Kansas City had a brief opportunity to equalize through Dejan Joveljić, but Miami quickly shut the door. Allende and Suárez struck twice in first-half stoppage time, giving the home side a comfortable lead heading into the break.
Miami Seals the Deal
In the second half, Memo Rodríguez pulled one back for Kansas City with a deflected long-range effort, but it was nothing more than a consolation. Inter Miami remained dominant and ensured their progression in the tournament.
Next Up: Cavalier FC
With the win over Kansas City, Inter Miami will now prepare to face Jamaican club Cavalier FC in the Concacaf Champions Cup Round of 16. With Messi and Suárez in top form, Miami will be favorites to continue their continental campaign.
