The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a seven-hour power outage in parts of Abuja due to scheduled annual preventive maintenance on two transformers at the Apo 132/33kV Transmission Substation.
According to a statement by TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, on Friday, February 21, 2025, the maintenance exercise will take place on:
- Saturday, February 22, 2025 (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)
- Sunday, February 23, 2025 (9:00 AM – 4:00 PM)

TCN’s Statement on the Outage
TCN explained that Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) will be unable to receive bulk power supply from the affected transformers during the maintenance period.
“The planned power interruptions are unavoidable, as Abuja DisCo will be unable to receive bulk power supply from the transformers during the maintenance period. Power supply will be restored to the affected areas upon completion of the maintenance exercise,” the statement read.
Apology to Affected Residents
The company apologized for the inconvenience, assuring customers that power supply would be restored immediately after the maintenance is completed.
“We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause the affected electricity customers,” TCN concluded.
