Canadian megastar Drake is on track to secure his 14th No. 1 album as a solo artist with his latest collaborative project, $ome $exy 4 U, alongside PartyNextDoor.
According to Chart Data, this milestone will see Drake tie the record of 14 chart-topping Billboard 200 albums, a feat previously achieved by hip-hop legend Jay-Z and pop icon Taylor Swift.
$ome $exy 4 U marks Drake’s first album release following his high-profile rap feud with Kendrick Lamar, which resulted in the controversial hit ‘Not Like Us.’ The track became the subject of a lawsuit against Universal Music Group (UMG), with Drake accusing his label of failing to prevent the release of a song containing injurious falsehoods about him.
Additionally, Drake has claimed that UMG engaged in unethical practices, including the use of bots to artificially inflate Spotify streams of the track to boost its perceived popularity.
Drake’s Dominance in Global Music Sales
2025 is shaping up to be another landmark year for Drake, who was recently recognized as the highest-selling rapper of 2024 by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI).
In the IFPI Global Artist Rankings, Drake secured the No. 2 spot overall, just behind Taylor Swift, who claimed the top position for the third consecutive year and fifth time overall.
Other notable rankings include:
- Drake – No. 2 (Highest-ranked rapper)
- Eminem – No. 8
- Kendrick Lamar – No. 9
This marks the 10th time Drake has been in the top 10 of IFPI’s global artist ranking and the 10th consecutive year he has been the highest-selling rapper worldwide.
With his upcoming 14th No. 1 album, Drake is now just five chart-topping albums away from matching the all-time record of 19 No. 1 albums held by The Beatles.
