2Baba, the Afrobeats legend, says he is unbothered if the younger generation of artistes does not recognise his legacy.
In a recent interview on the Afrobeats Podcast, the ace singer said although he appreciates when they do pay him tributes, he does not really anticipate the homage.
“Nobody owes me anything. For me, it (my legendary status) is there. It is never going to go away. It does not reduce who I am if young artistes do not recognise me,” he said.
“The only thing is, definitely, I appreciate it when people recognise me. There is nobody that will not appreciate that. I appreciate it when people recognise me but I do not take it personal when they do not.”

2Baba also said he believes the next generation of Nigerian artistes will do bigger things.
“The younger generation always takes it to the next level,” he said.
“That is how I see it, I am really happy for many of these guys and I pray that most of them will not get carried away.
“For most of them, I pray that it is not gbese type of arrangement, I just pray that they have their deals properly sorted out, it is not shining today and crying tomorrow.
“What I see today is amazing and what I am happy about is that it is authentic and not diluted, it is the real deal, nobody has come to hijack it.”
The 47-year-old first rose to fame as the frontman of Plantashun Boiz in 1999.
‘African Queen,’ his 2004 song, has been touted as one of the biggest hits to come out of Africa.
