Barring a shock turn of events, Sergino Dest will spend the 2022/23 season in Serie A with Italian champions AC Milan.
Barcelona and the Rossoneri have reached an agreement for the player’s transfer – he will move to Milan on an initial one-year loan and the Italian side have a purchase option of around 20 million euros.
Dest has taken a flight this Thursday morning to head to Italy in order to undergo his medical before signing his contract and joining the Stadio San Siro outfit.
AC Milan have two wins and two draws from their opening four matches this season, most recently drawing 0-0 away at Sassuolo on Tuesday evening.
Dest‘s Barcelona exit means that the Catalans need to reinforce at right-back even more than they already had to, as Xavi Hernandez has prioritised finding another player in that position. Thomas Meunier and Hector Bellerin are two contenders.
Marcos Alonso remains a target at left-back, while the club have agreed to terminate Martin Braithwaite‘s contract and expect to reach an agreement with Chelsea for the sale of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
