Wladimir Klitschko planned to contact Tyson Fury for a “last dance”

Prior to the Russian army’s invasion of Ukraine, Wladimir Klitschko had set himself the challenge of coming out of retirement and returning to professional boxing at the age of 46.

His objective was to achieve the necessary merits to aspire to a world title shot in the heavyweight category and, if he succeeded, to go down in history as the longest fighter to raise his fists high, as he would have displaced George Foreman.

With his mind on the “Gypsy King”
During a remote appearance on Piers Morgan’s new show, ‘Piers Morgan Uncensored’, the former Ukrainian fighter acknowledged that he was planning to contact Britain’s Tyson Fury to have one “last dance”.

“Honestly, I was thinking that I should grab Tyson Fury and tweet him: Last dance‘? […] Break the record and become the oldest heavyweight champion after George Foreman,” he mentioned.

Record man
So far, Klitschko holds the record of having consolidated the longest reign in his category after accumulating 4,382 days (9 years, 7 months and 7 days) as world heavyweight champion.

Thus, his record is only surpassed by American Joe Louis, who was champion for 11 years, 8 months and 8 days.

Wladimir Klitschko also holds the record for the most fighters defeated in the heavyweight world championship, 23 in total.
