2Baba, the Nigerian singer, and Annie Idibia, his wife, are among the cast for ‘Young, Famous & African’, Netflix’s first reality show on the continent.
The seven-episode show, which is set to launch on March 18, 2022, is shot in Johannesburg, South Africa.
It follows the story of a group of young, affluent, and famous A-list media personalities.
Hailing from South Africa, Nigeria, and East Africa, the aspirational who’s who of music, media, fashion, and Instagram stars come together in JoBurg.
They’re on a quest to find love, rekindle old flames, reboot struggling relationships as they continue to shine bright.
Netflix said the show will give viewers an intimate insider look into the glamorous lives of the starred entertainers.
This is to include rivalries, new friendships, romantic connections forming, and stories that made headlines.
Among the key cast are Khanyi Mbau, Diamond Platnumz, Zari the Boss Lady, Naked DJ, Nadia Nakai, Swanky Jerry, Andile Ncube, and Kayleigh Schwark.
‘Young, Famous & African’, co-created by Martin Asare Amankwa and Peace Hyde, is produced by Urban Brew Studios.
Speaking of the project, Amankwa said: “It’s really exciting to be able to show the world an exclusive look into the lives of Africa’s top celebrities and socialites.
“Young, Famous & African is a depiction of a world that has never been seen before, highlighting authentic stories and unrivaled access to some of the most celebrated celebrities.
Hyde added: “This has been a labour of love that has finally become a reality. Growing up in the UK, there were no glitzy and sexy images of Africa. All we saw were the stereotypical images that has been propelled in the media.”
‘Young, Famous & African’ will be available globally to subscribers in over 190 countries on the premiere date.
